Giovanni’s room
a story about self-denial, sexuality, and one’s place in the world, set in the 1950’s in Paris.
James Baldwin’s characters seem drastically real and drew me into the story like scarcely a book has done before.
„Giovannis Room“ was such a melancholic, intense, and raw portrait of love and queerness, which evoke the feeling that heartbreak is just around the corner.
i absolutely adored this classic and won’t stop recommending it. honestly, there’s not much to say left, as i don’t think further explanations would do this masterpiece justice.
